The Planning Commission consists of 7 volunteer members appointed by the City Council. Each City Council member appoints 1 commissioner to serve a term concurrent with their term in office. Additionally, 2 members are appointed at-large to serve terms of 2 years.

Planning commissioners are selected by the City Council for their interest, experience, and expertise. For more information about the appointment process, please refer to the appointments resource on the website.

Commission Overview

The Planning Commission holds hearings in a public forum to review a multitude of projects related to land use planning for the city. The Planning Commission may also review proposed city ordinances; the annual Capital Improvement Plan; and other issues related to consistency with the General Plan.

In order to minimize the spread of the COVID 19 virus, Governor Newsom has issued Executive Orders that temporarily suspend some requirements of the Brown Act. Please be advised that the Council Chambers are closed to the public and that some, or all, Planning Commissioners may attend Planning Commission meetings telephonically or otherwise electronically. The meeting will be held via webcast with NO PHYSICAL LOCATION FOR PUBLIC ATTENDANCE.

The meeting will be broadcast live on the city's webpage.  If you wish to make a public comment, please submit your comment via email to planning@citrusheights.net.  Each comment will be read aloud by the Planning Commission Secretary for up to five minutes.
